Dark lip neutralization
Clients with darker lips (Fitzpatrick skin types 4-6) may require Neutralization, which uses colour theory to lighten and enhance dark tissues. More than two sessions and a longer healing time are typically needed. Results last 1-3 years.
Lips, a central feature of sensual appeal, greatly enhance one's appearance and can boost confidence through the subtle addition of color. They are key in preserving a youthful and vibrant look, often even without daily makeup. Over time, however, lips can lose their volume, definition, and natural pigment, leading to less defined smile lines. With lip neutralizer treatments, we can revitalize your lips, restoring youthful vibrancy by enhancing their natural colour and definition.

About a week before your appointment, it's best to skip any aspirin, ibuprofen, and supplements like fish oil and Vitamin E. We want to minimize any unnecessary bleeding, so keeping these out of your system will keep things safe.
Water should be your best friend leading up to your appointment. Staying well-hydrated really helps your skin heal better and keeps those lips looking lush.
Now, about alcohol and caffeine—try to avoid these 24 to 48 hours before your session. They can make you more sensitive and more prone to bleeding, so it’s best to steer clear just to be safe.
And here's a heads-up on other lip treatments: please avoid getting lip injections or fillers for at least three weeks before your appointment. Also, keep away from laser and peel treatments around your lips for two weeks.
A few days before your session, give your lips a little TLC with a gentle lip scrub and some nourishing balm. This will make your lips the perfect canvas for beautiful color. We can't tattoo if you have chapped lips, so this step is crucial.
One week out from your appointment, try to avoid any irritation around your lips by skipping any waxing or undergoing electrolysis.
If you're prone to cold sores, it’s a good idea to talk to your doctor about starting antiviral medication a few days before your appointment to keep cold sores at bay.
Got any unique situations or burning questions? Don't hesitate to reach out. We're here to help and make sure you feel comfortable and informed every step of the way!

We’ll provide you with complete aftercare instructions—both a printed copy and a verbal explanation—once your treatment is finished.
Here’s a quick preview of what to expect in the days following your tattoo- Initially, your lips will appear more intense in colour and may be somewhat swollen for a day; this is completely normal! Within about 5 days, any flaky patches should fall away, and the true colour you chose will start to develop fully over the following 6-12 weeks.
The initial intensity of the colour depends on the pigment we select.

Yes, For effective results, multiple sessions are typically required. A minimum of two sessions is recommended to ensure the lips are evenly covered and the desired shade is achieved. Additonal sessinons are subject to the touchup fee of $150
Annual touchups every 18-24 months, depending on the specific technique used. Regular touch-ups help maintain the intensity and clarity of the colour as the pigmentation fades over time due to natural skin regeneration.

Day 1: Initial Reaction
After the procedure, it's normal for your lips to swell. This varies by individual, but the swelling will begin to subside after a few hours.
Your lips will also start oozing lymph fluid. Use sterile or baby wipes to blot this gently. If there’s a lot of oozing, you can wash the area with water and antibacterial soap, then pat dry gently.
The colour of your lips will be very intense initially. Remember, this will fade significantly over the next few days, and your lips will darken temporarily.
Day 2: Reducing Swelling
Your lips should start looking closer to their normal size, but some swelling may persist. If swelling increases, it could be an allergic reaction, and you should contact your technician.
Your lips will feel dry and tight as scabs begin to form. It's crucial not to touch your lips during this time to avoid patchiness.
Days 3-4: Peeling and Flaking Stage
You may experience peeling and flaking, accompanied by itching. It’s important not to scratch, pick, or stretch the skin, as this can cause infections and affect healing.
Continue to keep your lips clean and apply a thin layer of a recommended moisturizer like A&D Ointment or Aquaphor to prevent dryness.
Days 5-7: Continued Healing
If your lips are still peeling during this time, continue following your aftercare routine diligently.
Your lips will appear darker than before, which is normal and temporary. The true colour will start to emerge and change after the peeling subsides.
Once the visible healing process stops, you can start wearing makeup and return to your normal routine, but remember that the full healing can take longer.
2-6 Month Touch-Up
Follow-up appointments are crucial and should be scheduled 2-6 months after your initial session. This timing allows the pigment to settle naturally. Touch-ups are necessary to finalize the colour, make adjustments, and correct any missing spots to achieve the desired colour.
Be patient through the process, as complete healing and colour stabilization, especially for Fitzpatrick skin types 4-6, can take 3-4 months or more, depending on the initial darkness of the lips. Multiple sessions, ranging from 2-5, might be required to achieve the best results.

FAQs

Lip tattooing can involve some discomfort, as it is a type of cosmetic tattooing where pigment is implanted into your lips using fine needles. However, the level of pain experienced can vary depending on your pain threshold. We apply a topical anesthetic to the lips before starting the procedure to minimize discomfort. The sensation is often described as a slight buzzing or vibrating feeling.

Yes, it's essential to allow a four-week interval between receiving lip injections and undergoing lip blush to ensure proper healing. If there is any migration of the filler, it's advisable to have the filler dissolved before proceeding with permanent makeup.
Lip blush can subtly adjust the borders of your lips to enhance symmetry, but it should not extend beyond the vermilion border or onto the surrounding skin tissue. Working outside these boundaries can lead to issues once the pigment begins to fade.

it is considered a permanent enhancement, cosmetic tattooing doesn't wash off but does fade over time as your body naturally processes the pigment. The effects can last from 1 to 10 years, with some traces of pigment remaining permanently in the skin.

The final color achieved through neutralization is dependent on your natural lip colour. The treatment adjusts the dark pigments, and the chosen colour pigments are tailored to neutralize and enhance your natural tones.
While many factors influence the final outcome of a lip tattoo, we cannot guarantee an exact match to your lipstick. However, we strive to achieve a close resemblance, ensuring the tattooed colour is within the same colour family.
